Homicide Victims Support Group SA - Caring & Sharing Meetings

Meetings

Support Group Meetings second Wednesday of the month (Feb-Nov). Support from others who understand what victims of homicide are going through.

Peer Support Meetings

The group offers support through our meetings held on the second Wednesday of each month (February to November).

Why attend a group?

People may seek the support of the group for different reasons. Going through a traumatic experience can leave you feeling alone and isolated. A group setting offers a place where you can feel safe.

Your friends and family can provide you with support, although sometimes it might not be enough. You may not want to feel like you are burdening them with your grief or perhaps you feel like you can’t fully express yourself.

The Homicide Victim Support Group provides additional support to each other as each member understands what you’re going through.

What happens at a group?

Everyone affected by homicide is at a different point in their journey. Some losses are recent, while others happened long ago and may still be unresolved. Our group supports all members, regardless of when their loss occurred.

Many emotions may be expressed, including sadness, anger, and even humour, but most people experience a sense of relief. Everything shared in meetings is confidential and will not be shared outside the group without permission.

It is up to you how much you share – there are no expectations and all sorts of feelings can be expressed at a meeting.
